World Christian Outreach Youth Missionary Army Clubs

Questions and Answers

WHO ARE YOU?
W.C.O. Youth Missionary Army is the youth branch of World Christian Outreach. We help establish our clubs in families, home school groups, churches, Christian Schools or communities. The goal of the clubs is to develop the heart of a missionary in boys & girls as they help other children.

WHAT AGE GROUP?
To form a club, your group must have an adult leader and at least one child 8-Jr. High. High school children serve a support role to the younger members.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Joining the Youth Missionary Army is free. Name your platoon, “enlist”, and you will receive our free official handbook. As you report back to us at least every three months, your platoon will receive our free interactive monthly newsletter. Your costs for supplies such as pencils, paper, and envelopes & stamps to reply to headquarters should run between $3 and $15 a year. Groups must find, or request from us, a sponsor to cover this cost. The children and their parents are never asked to do this. (Exception: “Family Platoons” may sponsor themselves.)

HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?
Platoons are required to meet once a month, but may meet more.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MEETINGS?
Meetings always open in prayer. From there, members give reports on their thoughts and progress from last meeting. Our newsletter give an outline for the “verse & virtue” of the month with guidelines for discussions, activities or games, and a monthly “challenge”. There is also a contest each month in which an individual soldier or the whole platoons may participate! Clubs can feel free to use the ideas in the newsletter, use another format, or use both. Groups may strategize on fundraising ideas for our current “mission” or use one of our fundraising models.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
100% of all funds raised by soldiers goes directly to projects. Our current project is “Operation Deep Hole” a water well at the future site of an orphanage for street children in Kenya, Africa.

WHO PAYS FOR WCOYMA TO SUPPORT THE CLUBS?
Generous donors called the W.C.O.Y.M.A. “ANGELS” pay our paper/postage/phone costs so we can provide clubs with their handbook, newsletter and support. Other “ANGELS” volunteer to do clerical work or develop ideas to make the clubs better! “ANGELS” also sponsor small groups and sponsor our monthly newsletter contests. (Aren’t these people great?)

WHAT ARE RANK & MERIT AWARDS AND WHAT DO THEY COST SPONSORS?
We offer 5 optional programs that start from $10.00 per 7 soldiers a year and range up to $210 per 7 soldiers a year. These optional awards may consist of our “dogtags”, badges, pins, hats, berets and T-shirts. We do have guidelines for obtaining a sponsor for awards programs. You may not solicit the children or their parents to sponsor themselves. We promote our clubs as free to all children, and they must be kept that way. The award programs are great, and the kids really enjoy them. However they are optional and not necessary.

WHAT IS MY PART?
Adults - become or find a W.C.O.Y.M.A. ANGEL, become or find a Sponsor, start a platoon in your family or group, become a platoon leader, platoon helper, prayer partner, or donate to the projects through a young missionary soldier.

High School - become a “special forces” support member (mentor, help at meetings, help raise sponsorship for a platoon)

Young Missionary Soldiers - Meet, work together, pray, listen to your leaders, learn from your mentors, look to your Lord, move mountains, and give God the Glory!
